Overall, this is a great complement to a well-stocked cooking library that is geared for the health and calorie conscious. It was more like dessert to me than breakfast see third picture. They should have called it banana pancakes since that is the main ingredient. The picture in the book and my picture include additional toppings that are not part of the calorie plan. I added blueberries, walnuts, and a little bit of maple syrup. The book's picture includes the same except they apparently use a yogurt mixture instead of syrup.
Also, I did oil the non-stick griddle which is not specified in the recipe. The pancakes would have stuck otherwise and even were sticking a bit with the oil. All this adds to the calories. For those on the 1, calorie diet, all you would be able to eat is the pancakes without the toppings and no use of oil on the griddle. This book is largely an add for specialty ingredients and other things that are not normal to kitchens. Not a very useful purchase.
Let me begin by saying I order a lot of cookbooks, and I must admit by far this is one of the best cookbooks I've purchased in a while. Hats off to Cooking Light. I want to begin a 1, calorie diet and this cookbook makes it easy to do just that, the pictures are beautiful, the recipes are simple to make AND delicious the key word here.
Not a whole lot of reading in the beginning which makes me happy , just recipes for breakfast cal , lunch cal , dinner cal AND dessert cal. No need to run around looking for ingredients either - everything you need you can find at the local grocery store. This cookbook will not disappoint! My sister in law kept making all this great food, and almost every time I asked where she got the recipe, it was from cooking light. So when I decided to cut calories and be a more portion conscious, I was thrilled to find this cookbook.
I went through it this morning, and was starving by the time I was done. Everything looks so good! And a good majority of the ingredients are things I would keep on hand anyway. So besides the breakfast quiche as an example , you also get to have fruit or coffee with cream to actually hit that calorie mark. Everything in each meal section has similar enough calorie counts that you can easily swap whatever you want.
Each recipe also includes suggestions on how to supplement your entree for increased calories if you should be eating , , or calories a day instead of There are plenty of options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike.

There are different sections for smoothies, oatmeal's along with specific meal plans for each calorie range. This is exactly what I have been looking for for years! So many variety of recipes, snacks, smoothies, desserts, etc. Most impressive is the detail for calorie count, like 1 cup , etc.

Can you please suggest a vegetarian diet plan for PCOS? It will really be helpful. I was diagnosed with PCOS, but have an issue with being reliant on medication or birthcontrol to keep me regulated. I know food can do both hurt or heal, so I am going to try your meal plans out for the rest of this year and see where it places me. Your blog post for these meals is out of this world!

I never lived on my university campus, but I did sometimes go to their restaurants and buffet style restaurant. Finally if you have a buffet style, that can be either the best or worst option for you depending on your self control. Any type of grilled things, casseroles were good.
